Removal and Installation

WARNING: Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.
CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet pipe. .
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  4. Disconnect the brake lines.

  5. Remove the bolt.

  6. Remove the bolts and the HCU.

  7. NOTE: The 4x2 module cannot be interchanged with the 4x4 module. The 4x4 module is interchangeable with the 4x2 module.

  8. Remove the screws and the control module, if necessary.
  9. NOTE: Bleed the HCU after performing this procedure. For additional information, refer to DISC & DRUM .
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
