Description & Operation
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system allows driver to lock and unlock driver door only or all doors, unlock luggage compartment without using a key, activate illuminated entry and activate/deactivate anti-theft system (if equipped). RKE system consists of power door lock system, Anti-Theft/Central Security Module (CSM), remote transmitter(s) and necessary wiring. Remote keyless entry will operate when ignition switch in ACC or OFF positions.
To lock vehicle using power door lock switches, press LOCK on driver or passenger door to lock all doors. To unlock, press individual door UNLOCK button. To release luggage compartment lid, press LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT release button located on the upper left side of instrument panel.
Pressing remote transmitter UNLOCK button will unlock driver door only, turn on illuminated entry lights and deactivate anti-theft system. Pressing remote transmitter UNLOCK button a second time within 3 seconds will unlock all doors and disable anti-theft system. Pressing remote transmitter LOCK button will lock all doors and flash hazard lights. Pressing Remote transmitter LOCK button a second time within 3 seconds will lock doors again, horn will chirp and hazard lights will flash to confirm. If vehicle is equipped with anti-theft, pressing remote transmitter LOCK button the second time will also activate anti-theft system. Pressing LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT button 1-2 times (depending on date of manufacture) will release luggage compartment lid. When the PANIC button on the remote transmitter is pushed, horn will sound and the exterior lights will flash. Pressing PANIC button a second time will de-active panic alarm. Panic alarm can also be turned off by turning ignition switch to RUN position or will turn off automatically after 2 minutes.
