Test K: Auto-Lock Malfunction

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check for DTCs from FEM. Record any FEM DTCs present. Go to appropriate test procedure for DTCs present. See DTC INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. For DTCs not listed in this article, see FEM DTC table in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If no DTC for FEM exist, go to next step.
- Close all doors. Using scan tool, monitor FEM and REM PID information for each door. Verify FEM PID for D_DOOR, and REM PIDs for P_DOOR, LRDR_SW, RRDR_SW and DECHLID information displayed agrees with positions of each door and liftgate, while opening and closing each door and liftgate. If all information displayed agrees, go to next step. If information displayed does not agree, locate and repair fault in respective door ajar switch, or related circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Monitor instrument cluster PIDs for IGN_A, IGN_O/U, IGN_R and IGN_S, while cycling ignition switch through each position. If information displayed agrees with ignition switch positions, replace FEM. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If information does not agree with ignition switch positions, repair concern in ignition switch, instrument cluster or related circuit. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES - WINDSTAR article.
