Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If NGS tester responds with CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, repair module communications. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article.

If NGS tester responds with NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Powertrain Control Module (PCM), repair communications. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If NGS tester responds with SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform FEM, REM and RKE module self-test.
