Test G: Single Mirror Heater Inoperative
- Ensure shift selector is in Park and parking brake is applied. Start engine. Turn rear window defogger switch on. If rear window defogger operates correctly, go to next step. If rear window defogger does operate correctly, repair as necessary. See REAR WINDOW DEFOGGERS - WINDSTAR article.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect driver's power mirror harness connector C505 and passenger's power mirror harness connector C605. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and driver's power mirror harness connector C505 terminal No. 7 (Dark Green/Violet wire). Measure voltage between ground and passenger's power mirror harness connector C605 terminal No. 7 (Dark Green/Violet wire). See Figure . If all voltages are 10 volts or more, go to next step. If any voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Green/Violet wire. Retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between ground and driver's power mirror harness connector C505 terminal No. 1 (Black wire). Measure resistance between ground and passenger's power mirror harness connector C605 terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If all resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace outside power mirror glass. See OUTSIDE POWER MIRROR GLASS & MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
