Self-Diagnostic System
NOTE:
All diagnostic tests are written specifically for New Generation Star (NGS) tester and Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) testers. Most generic scan tools should be able to perform all test procedures.
Connect NGS/WDS tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS/WDS tester, perform data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If NGS/WDS responds with CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If NGS/WDS displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for speed control servo/actuator, perform TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH SPEED CONTROL SERVO/ACTUATOR
under SYSTEM TESTS.
If NGS/WDS responds with SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTC. Erase continuous DTC. Using NGS/WDS, perform speed control servo/actuator self-test. If any DTC are retrieved, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See SPEED CONTROL SERVO/ACTUATOR DTC INDEX
table. Codes listed in this table are only for testing covered in this article. For complete DTC listing, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If no DTC are retrieved, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX
table under SYSTEM TESTS.
