Test B: Single Mirror Inoperative

NOTE: Perform all voltage and resistance tests using a Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove appropriate door trim panel. See FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect inoperative exterior power mirror 8-pin harness connector, located under door trim panel, see Figure . While operating power mirror control switch to down, then right position for inoperative mirror, measure voltage between ground and inoperative exterior power mirror harness connector terminal No. 5 (Yellow wire). See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If 10 volts or less exists in either reading, go to next step. If more than 10 volts exists in both readings, go to step  3 .
  2. Disconnect power mirror control switch 8-pin harness connector C527, located under driver's door trim panel. See Figure . Measure resistance between inoperative mirror harness connector terminal No. 5 and power mirror control switch harness connector C527 terminal No. 6 (Yellow wire). See Figure and Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace power mirror control switch. See POWER MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open or short circuit in Yellow wire between inoperative mirror and power mirror control switch. After repair, test system for normal operation.
  3. While operating power mirror control switch to up and left position, measure voltage between ground and appropriate inoperative power mirror harness connector terminal as specified. See MIRROR LOGIC VOLTAGE TEST  table. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage is not as specified in either reading, go to next step. If voltage is as specified in both readings, replace inoperative power rear view mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR GLASS & MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, test system for normal operation.
    MIRROR LOGIC VOLTAGE TEST

Power Mirror Connector Terminal No. (Wire Color) Power Mirror Control Switch Position Measurement Reading
    Driver's Power Mirror Connector C520 (1)
6 (Dark Blue Wire) Up 10 Volts Or Greater
7 (Red Wire) Left 10 Volts Or Greater
    Passenger's Power Mirror Connector C601 (1)
6 (Violet Wire) Up 10 Volts Or Greater
7 (White Wire) Left 10 Volts Or Greater
    (1) For power mirror harness connector terminal identification, see Figure .
  4. Remove power mirror control switch. Perform component test, see POWER MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If power mirror control switch is faulty, replace switch. If power mirror control switch is okay, repair appropriate wire(s) between power mirror control switch and inoperative mirror. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, test system for normal operation.
