Test G: Flash Code 2/Brake Pedal Position Switch Circuit Failure

  1. Inspect stop lights for correct operation by pressing and releasing brake pedal. If stop lights operate correctly, go to next step. If stop lights do not operate correctly, repair brake light concern. See wiring diagram in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect 10-pin speed control servo harness connector. Speed control servo is located at right rear of engine compartment. Measure voltage between speed control servo harness connector terminals No. 4 (Tan/Light Blue wire) and No. 10 (Pink/Orange wire) while pressing brake pedal. See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step  5 .
  3. Measure resistance between speed control servo harness connector terminals No. 4 (Tan/Light Blue wire) and No. 10 (Pink/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace speed control servo. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .
  4. Disconnect 5-pin Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch harness connector. BPP switch is located on brake pedal support. Measure resistance in Black wire between ground and BPP harness connector terminal No. 1. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BPP switch. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between BPP and ground. Ground point is located at left front of vehicle floor.
  5. Disconnect 6-pin Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch harness connector, or CPP switch jumper (A/T) harness connector. CPP switch and CPP switch jumper are located on brake pedal support. Measure resistance in CPP switch or CPP switch jumper (component side) terminals No. 3 and 4. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace CPP switch or CPP switch jumper.
  6. Measure resistance in Tan/Light Blue wire between speed control servo harness connector terminal No. 4 and CPP switch or CPP switch jumper harness connector terminal No. 4. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/Light Green wire between BPP switch and CPP switch or CPP switch jumper. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Light Blue wire between speed control servo and CPP switch or CPP switch jumper.
