Key Programming - Using New Generation Star Tester
NOTE:
This procedure is used when a customer needs encoded keys programmed into system and does not have 2 programmed encoded keys available.
NOTE:
Procedure requires 2 encoded keys. Both encoded keys must be programmed into system before vehicle engine will start.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC) located below steering column. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using NGS tester with service card, enter SERVICE BAY FUNCTIONS. Select PCM from menu. Enter SECURITY ACCESS. This procedure will take 10 minutes to perform.
- When security access is granted, select IGNITION KEY CODE ERASE. Turn ignition to OFF position. Disconnect NGS tester from DLC.
- Insert first encoded key into ignition switch and cycle ignition switch from OFF to ON position. After 3 seconds, turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove first encoded key. Insert second encoded key into ignition switch and cycle ignition switch from OFF to ON position. After 3 seconds, turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove second encoded key.
- If programmed correctly, vehicle engine will now start with both encoded keys. To program additional keys, see SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING .
