Cable/Bracket Adjustment

  1. Place the gearshift lever in the D position and hang a 1.4 kg (3 lb.) weight on shift control selector lever. Move gearshift lever to first gear position, then move back 2 detents to the D position. Hang the 1.4 kg (3 lb.) weight on gearshift lever.
  2. Raise and support vehicle.
  3. Disconnect transmission shift cable from manual control lever.

  4. Pull out transmission shift cable adjustment lock on shift cable body.

  5. Place manual control lever in D position. Rotate manual control lever fully counterclockwise (1). Rotate manual control lever clockwise (2) to D position (2 detents).

  6. Connect transmission shift cable to manual control lever.

  7. Push in transmission shift cable adjustment lock on shift cable body.

  8. Lower vehicle.
    NOTE: If equipped with air suspension, reactivate system by turning on air suspension switch.
  9. Remove 1.4 kg (3 lb.) weight.
  10. Verify that the vehicle will start only in P or N and that backup lamps illuminate in R. If not, repeat steps  1 through  7 and perform a digital transmission range sensor alignment. For 4R44E, see TEST D: TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR . For 5R44E and 5R55E, see TEST C: TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR .
