CLOCKSPRING Centering

WARNING: Personal injury is possible. Operating vehicle with improperly centered clockspring may damage clockspring, and in the event of collision, cause air bag deployment malfunction. If clockspring rotor has moved or if unsure of rotor position, perform clockspring centering procedure. See CLOCKSPRING CENTERING  under ADJUSTMENTS.
CAUTION: Damage to clockspring is possible. Over-rotating clockspring rotor can damage clockspring. Internal ribbon wire acts as a stop and can be broken from its internal connection. When slight resistance is felt during rotation, internal ribbon wire is at end of travel.

While holding clockspring outer housing stationary, depress clockspring locking tab to release clockspring rotor. Holding clockspring locking tab in released position, turn rotor counterclockwise until slight resistance is felt (end of travel). Turn clockspring rotor clockwise 3 turns. Release clockspring locking tab. DO NOT allow clockspring to turn from this position.
