Test A: Both Mirrors Inoperative

  1. Check fuse No. 19 (15-amp) in Central Junction Box (CJB). CJB is located behind left side of instrument panel, left of steering column. If fuse No. 19 is okay, go to next step. If fuse No. 19 is blown, check for short to ground in White/Violet wire between 8-pin mirror control switch harness connector C501 terminal No. 1 and CJB. See Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Check for short to ground in wiring between mirrors and mirror control switch. Check for shorted mirrors or mirror switch. Repair as necessary.
  2. Remove and disconnect mirror control switch. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Measure voltage between ground and mirror control switch harness connector C501 terminal No. 1 (White/Violet wire). See Fig 1 . If more than 10 volts exist, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exist, repair open in White/Violet wire between mirror control switch and fuse No. 19 (15-amp) in CJB. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Measure resistance between ground and mirror control switch harness connector C501 terminal No. 5 (Black wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between mirror control switch and ground. Ground point is located in left rear of vehicle. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Remove passenger's door trim panel. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Disconnect passenger's mirror harness connector C610. Measure resistance of Yellow wire between passenger's mirror harness connector C610 and mirror control switch harness connector C501 terminal No. 6. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace mirror control switch. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow wire between passenger's mirror and mirror control switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
