Test D: Passenger's Power Window Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect passenger's 6-pin harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and passenger's window adjust switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Red/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1
. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red/Light Blue wire between passenger's window adjust switch and central junction box. Central junction box is located behind left side of instrument panel.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect master window/door lock/unlock switch 12-pin harness connector. Measure resistance of White/Yellow wire between master window/door lock/unlock switch harness connector terminal No. 1 and passenger's window adjust switch harness connector terminal No. 1. See Figure
and Fig 1
. Measure resistance of Tan/Light Blue wire between master window/door lock/unlock switch harness connector terminal No. 2 and passenger's window adjust switch harness connector terminal No. 6. If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in White/Yellow wire or Tan/Light Blue wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and passenger's window adjust switch harness connector terminals No. 1 (White/Yellow wire) and No. 6 (Tan/Light Blue wire). If both resistances are 10 k/ohms or more, go to next step. If either resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in White/Yellow wire or Tan/Light Blue wire.
- Remove passenger's window adjust switch. Test passenger's window adjust switch. See WINDOW ADJUST SWITCH
under COMPONENT TESTS. If passenger's window adjust switch is okay, go to next step. If passenger's window adjust switch is not okay, replace switch.
- Remove master window/door lock/unlock switch. Test master window/door lock/unlock switch. See MASTER WINDOW/DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK SWITCH
under COMPONENT TESTS. If master window/door lock/unlock switch is okay, go to next step. If master window/door lock/unlock switch is not okay, replace switch.
- Disconnect passenger's window motor 2-pin harness connector. Measure resistance of Yellow/Red wire between passenger's window adjust switch harness connector terminal No. 5 and passenger's motor harness connector. Measure resistance of Red/Yellow wire between passenger's window adjust switch harness connector terminal No. 2 and passenger's motor harness connector. If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Yellow/Red wire or Red/Yellow wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and passenger's window adjust switch harness connector terminals No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire) and No. 5 (Yellow/Red wire). See Fig 1
. If both resistances are 10 k/ohms or more, replace passenger's window motor. If either resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Yellow wire or Yellow/Red wire.
