Rear View Mirrors
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The exterior mirrors have the following features:
- exterior mirror motor
- foldaway type
- controlled by the exterior mirror control switch
- heated exterior mirror glass
There are 2 types of interior rear view mirrors available:
- manual day/night interior rear view mirror
- auto-dimming interior rear view mirror
The available automatic dimming feature:
- functions mainly at night with limited function at dawn or dusk.
- changes from normal to non-glare mode when headlight glare reaches the auto-dimming interior rear view mirror. The auto-dimming interior mirror measures the brightness of the light from the rear of the vehicle then automatically makes a correction in the reflective properties of the mirror and reduces the glare.
- automatically adjusts the sensitivity of the auto-dimming interior mirror. From the non-glare mode, the auto-dimming interior mirror returns to normal after a short delay. The delay begins when the glare goes away and eliminates readjustment of the auto-dimming interior mirror as traffic moves behind or around the vehicle.
- automatically locks the auto-dimming interior mirror into the normal state whenever the transmission is placed in the REVERSE mode to provide a clear view when backing up.
