Valve Seals: Removal

  1. Remove the camshafts. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFTS .
    • Remove the valve tappets and place them in order to one side.
  2. WARNING: Always wear protective goggles when working with compressed air. This can prevent injury. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
  3. Unscrew the spark plug on cylinder No. 1 and connect the compressed air supply.
  4. CAUTION: Use compressed air at 7 to 10 bars.

  5. Using the special tools and apply compressed air to the cylinder.
    • Using the special tools, compress the valve springs and remove the valve collets using some grease and a small screwdriver.
    • Remove the valve spring retainers and the valve springs.
  6. NOTE: Place all parts in order to one side.
  7. Remove the valve springs.
  8. Using special tools, remove the valve stem seals.
