Test F: TSS Sensor

  1. Check Circuits To TSS Sensor

With ignition switch in OFF position, disconnect PCM and TSS sensor connectors. Install breakout box to PCM wiring harness connector and leave PCM disconnected. Using DVOM, measure resistance between TSS sensor harness connector terminals and breakout box terminals No. 23 (Red wire at TSS sensor connector) and No. 84 (White wire at TSS sensor connector). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms for both measurements, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more for either measurement, repair open in affected circuit. Retest system.
  2. Check TSS Circuits For Short To Ground

Using DVOM, measure resistance between breakout box terminals No. 23, 84 and ground. If each resistance is 10 k/ohms or more, go to next step. If either resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short in affected circuit. Reconnect all connectors and repeat QUICK TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  3. Check TSS Sensor

Using DVOM, measure resistance between TSS sensor terminals. If resistance is 200-400 ohms, replace PCM and repeat QUICK TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If resistance is not as specified, replace TSS sensor. Reconnect all connectors and repeat QUICK TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
