Seat Assembly: Installation

Remove Seat Belt Pretensioner (418-F405) from 10-pin floor harness connector. Position seat into vehicle, and connect 10-pin harness connector. Install seat rear nuts, and torque right side nut to 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm), and left side nut to 22 ft. lbs (30 Nm). Install seat rear trim covers. Connect negative battery cable. With restraint system diagnostic tools still in place, prove out air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - SABLE & TAURUS article. Position seat to rearward position. Disconnect negative battery cable, and wait one minute. Install seat front bolts, and torque to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm). Install seat front trim covers. Remove Air Bag Simulator (418-133) from side air bag floor harness connector. Connect side air bag harness connector. Remove restraint system diagnostic tools (418-F407 & 418-133) from passengers seat harness connectors. Connect passenger side air bag 10-pin harness connectors. Remove restraint diagnostic tool (418-F403) from vehicle harness. Install passengers air bag. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - SABLE & TAURUS article. Remove restraint system diagnostic tool (418-F403) from 4-pin air bag sliding contact harness connector. Connect 4-pin air bag sliding contact harness connector. Install lower steering column opening cover. Install retaining bolts, and torque to 62 INCH lbs. (7 Nm). Connect negative battery cable. Prove out air bag system. Remove Air Bag Simulator (418-F403) from 4-pin air bag sliding contact harness connector. Connect 4-pin air bag sliding contact harness connector. Install lower steering column opening cover. Inspect restraint system for correct operation.
