Spindle Assembly: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Ford Mustang and 1998 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Place spindle on ball joint stud, and install stud nut. DO NOT tighten nut at this time. Lower shock until attaching holes are in line with spindle holes. Install 2 NEW bolts and nuts.
  2. Tighten ball joint stud nut, and install new cotter pin (if equipped). DO NOT back off nut to install cotter pin; tighten to align cotter pin holes. Tighten shock-to-spindle attaching nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Lower and remove jack. Install remaining components in reverse order of removal. Check front end alignment and adjust as necessary. See appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
