Lower Control Arm: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Ford Mustang and 1998 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Manufacturer recommends replacing all nuts and bolts with NEW parts.
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure lower end of spring is positioned between 2 holes in lower arm spring pocket. See Figure . On 4.6L engine, install upper plate between coils in location marked during removal. DO NOT nick spring coils when installing upper plate.
  2. Raise lower control arm to normal position before tightening attaching nuts. With vehicle at normal operating height, tighten remaining nuts and bolts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . After installation, check front end alignment and adjust if necessary. See appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.


NOTE: Manufacturer recommends replacing all nuts and bolts with NEW parts.

To install, reverse removal procedure. With vehicle at normal operating height, tighten all and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . After installation, check front end alignment and adjust if necessary. See appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
