Fuel System Pressure Release

WARNING: Always relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel injection related component. DO NOT allow fuel to contact engine or electrical components.

On Escort, remove fuel pump fuse, located in engine compartment fuse panel. On Focus, remove fuel pump (F12) fuse from battery junction box, located in left rear of engine compartment. On all vehicles, start engine and allow to run until it stalls. Attempt to restart engine twice to ensure fuel pressure is relieved. Reinstall fuel pump fuse.
