Throttle Position Sensor

Throttle Position (TP) sensor, located on throttle body assembly, supplies PCM with information on position of throttle plate. PCM uses TP sensor signal for determining shift timing, controlling main line pressures, controlling torque converter lock-up clutch and for kickdown. If TP sensor fails, PCM uses MAF sensor as a substitute signal. Main line pressure is then increased and hard shifts may occur.
