Test K: No Module/Network Communication - No Power To NGS Tester
- Inspect New Generation Star (NGS) tester connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Inspect Data Link Connector (DLC) for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If DLC is okay, go to next step.
- Check fuse junction panel fuse No. 3 (20-amp). Replace fuse as necessary. If fuse blows again, check for short to ground. Repair wiring as necessary. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse and go to next step.
- Measure voltage between DLC terminal No. 16 (Light Blue/White wire) and ground. See Figure. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Light Blue/White wire.
- Measure resistance between DLC terminal No. 4 (Black wire) and ground. See Figure. Also measure resistance between DLC terminal No. 5 (Black/White wire) and ground. If each resistance if less than 5 ohms, check NGS tester. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire(s).
