Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 14 other vehicles, including the 2000 Mercury Sable, 2000 Mercury Mystique, 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, 2000 Mercury Cougar, and 2000 Lincoln Town Car. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Oxygen sensor is equipped with a permanent pigtail which must be protected when oxygen sensor is removed. Oxygen sensor may be difficult to remove when engine temperature is less than 120°F (48°C). If necessary use a penetrant to help in loosening oxygen sensor. Ensure oxygen sensor is free of contaminants, and avoid using cleaning solvents of any type. Always use anti-seize compound on threads prior to installation. Tighten oxygen sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
