Test Q: Door Locks Are Inoperative Using Keypad

  1. Sit in vehicle. Operate door locks from interior switches. If doors lock and unlock properly, go to next step. If doors do not lock and unlock properly, go to TEST N: DOOR LOCKS INOPERATIVE  .
  2. Connect scan tool following manufacturers instructions. Turn ignition to RUN position. Using scan tool, monitor DDM PID KEY_PAD. If numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, and/or 9 exist, go to next step. If no numbers exist, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect keyless entry keypad switch 8-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Monitor DDM PID KEY_PAD. If any keypad switch numbers exist, repair appropriate circuit between DDM and keyless entry keypad as specified. See KEYPAD CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION  table. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If no keypad switch numbers exist, replace keyless entry keypad.

Scan Tool Display Repair Keypad Circuit Wiring
    1/2 Light Blue/Yellow Wire
    3/4 Light Green/Red Wire
    5/6 Yellow/Black Wire
    7/8 Yellow Wire
    9/0 Red Wire
  4. Using scan tool, monitor DDM PID KEY_PAD while pressing all keypad buttons one at a time. If all keypad buttons operate correctly, replace DDM. If keypad buttons do not operate correctly, go to next step.
  5. While monitoring DDM PID KEY_PAD, momentarily connect a fused (10-amp) jumper wire between positive battery post and each keyless entry keypad button terminals No. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. See Figure . Terminal No. 1 (Red wire) should display 9/0, No. 3 (Light Blue/Yellow wire) should display 1/2, No. 4 (Light Green/Red) should display 3/4, No. 5 (Yellow/Black wire) should display 5/6 and No. 6 (Yellow wire) should display 7/8. If all keyless entry keypad switch inputs are as specified, replace keyless entry keypad switch. If keyless entry keypad switch inputs are not as specified, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect DDM 12-pin connector C518 and 18-pin connector C519. Measure resistance between DDM connector terminals and keyless entry keypad switch connector terminals as specified. See Figure , Figure and Figure . See KEYPAD CIRCUIT RESISTANCE TEST  table. If resistance is less than 5 ohms in each circuit, replace DDM. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms in any circuit, repair open in appropriate wire as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
