Test B: Set Speed Fluctuates

  1. Check for binding or sticking cruise control servo/actuator cable, throttle linkage and/or throttle plate. Ensure throttle cable bracket and cruise control servo/actuator bracket are not loose. Repair as necessary. If all components are okay, go to next step.
  2. Drive vehicle and observe speedometer operation. If speedometer operates properly, replace cruise control servo/actuator. See SERVO/ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If speedometer does not operate properly, repair speedometer as necessary. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
