Fuel System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Ford Ranger. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The fuel system consists of:
- A fuel injection supply manifold
- Fuel injectors
- A fuel tank
- A fuel pump
- A fuel filter
- Fuel supply and return tubes
The vehicle is equipped with sequential multiport fuel injection (SFI).
Fuel delivery is accomplished through a mechanical returnless fuel system (MRFS).
- The fuel pump supplies the fuel injectors with pressurized fuel through the fuel injection supply manifold.
- Fuel pressure is controlled by the fuel pressure regulator which is mounted to the fuel pump support rods within the fuel tank.
- The fuel tubes route the fuel from the fuel pump to the fuel injection supply manifold.
- The fuel filter cleans the fuel delivered from the fuel pump to the fuel injection supply manifold.
