Engine and Radiator Flushing

MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS

Item Specification
Motorcraft Premium Cooling System Flush VC-1 or equivalent ESR-M14P7-A
    WARNING: Do not open the cooling system while it is hot or while the engine is running.
  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 2.3L  or COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 3.0L AND 4.0L .
  2. Remove the water thermostat.
  3. Install the water thermostat housing without the water thermostat.
  4. NOTE: Refer to the cooling system flusher manufacturer's operating instructions for specific vehicle hook-up.
  5. Use an appropriate cooling system flusher to flush the engine and radiator. Use premium cooling system flush.
  6. Install the water thermostat.
  7. Backflush the heater core. For additional information, refer to HEATER CORE BACKFLUSHING .
  8. Fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 2.3L  or COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 3.0L AND 4.0L .
