Engine and Radiator Flushing

- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 2.3L or COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 3.0L AND 4.0L .
- Remove the water thermostat.
- Install the water thermostat housing without the water thermostat.
- Use an appropriate cooling system flusher to flush the engine and radiator. Use premium cooling system flush.
- Install the water thermostat.
- Backflush the heater core. For additional information, refer to HEATER CORE BACKFLUSHING .
- Fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 2.3L or COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 3.0L AND 4.0L .
WARNING:
Do not open the cooling system while it is hot or while the engine is running.
