Transmission Range Sensor

CAUTION:
On models equipped with 4R70W, discard outer manual control lever shaft nut. Do not reuse. The old nut will not retain torque specification.
NOTE:
On vehicles equipped with auxiliary batteries, both the negative and positive battery cables must be disconnected.
- Place gearshift lever in Neutral position. Remove shift cable from manual control lever. Remove manual control lever. Loosen Transmission Range (TR) sensor retaining bolts.
- Install TR Sensor Adjustor (307-351). See Fig 1. Tighten TR sensor retaining bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install manual control lever, and tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check for Park gear engagement. Start engine and ensure indicated gear positions match transmission response.
- If operation is not okay, check shift cable adjustment. See SHIFT CABLE . Verify vehicle only starts in Park and Neutral, and back-up lights operate.
