Parking Aid Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Parking Aid Module (PAM) calculates distance to an object by using 4 ultrasonic sensors mounted in rear bumper. Sensors can detect objects in a semicircular area behind vehicle, approximately 5.9 ft. (1.80 m) to rear of vehicle, 18" (45.7 cm) to rear side of vehicle and 6" (15.2 cm) above ground. A variable warning tone is generated from a speaker located on PAM. Warning tone rate increases as vehicle gets closer to an obstacle and becomes continuous when vehicle is within 10" (25.4 cm) of object.
