Windshield Reseal

MATERIAL

DOW AUTOMOTIVE 2-HOUR CURE  
Dow Urethane Adhesive Betaseal® Express -
SIKA 2-HOUR CURE  
Sika Urethane Adhesive Sika Tack ASAP -
Ultra-Clear Spray Glass Cleaner ZC-23 ESR-M14P5-A
  1. Remove the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
  2. Remove the screws and LH and RH sun visors and clips.

  3. Position the LH and RH front door weatherstrips aside.

  4. Remove the LH and RH windshield side garnish mouldings.

  5. If equipped, remove the overhead console. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  6. If equipped, remove the roof opening panel headliner retainer.

  7. Partially lower the front portion of the headliner and block with a suitable material.
  8. Clean the interior and exterior of the windshield glass surface with glass cleaner.
  9. Cut the urethane adhesive applicator tip to specification.

  10. NOTE: Use either a high ratio, electric or battery-operated caulk gun that applies the urethane with less effort and continuous bead.
    NOTE: Make sure that all gaps in the urethane adhesive are smoothed into one continuous bead.
  11. Apply the urethane adhesive over the top of the existing urethane adhesive.
    • Apply the urethane adhesive to the top and sides of the windshield from the interior of the vehicle.
    • Apply the urethane adhesive to the bottom of the windshield from the exterior of the vehicle.
  12. NOTE: The urethane adhesive must cure for a minimum of 1 hour before testing for air or water leaks.
  13. After the urethane cures, check the windshield seal for air or water leaks through the urethane adhesive bead and add urethane adhesive as necessary.
  14. Install the front portion of the headliner.
  15. If equipped, install the roof opening panel headliner retainer.

  16. If equipped, install the overhead console. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  17. Install the LH and RH windshield side garnish mouldings.

  18. Install the LH and RH front door weatherstrips.

  19. Position the LH and RH sun visors, clips and install the screws.

  20. Install the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
