Trouble Shooting

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Before performing individual component tests or diagnostic tests, verify customer concern by operating power mirror system. Ensure battery is fully charged. Visually inspect for obvious sign of mechanical and electrical damage. Check Central Junction Box (CJB) fuses No. 20 (5-amp), No. 4 (7.5-amp), No. 17 and 23 (10-amp) and Battery Junction Box (BJB) No. 103 (50-amp). Check for damaged wiring harness and/or loose, corroded connections. Check for damage to switches, mirror assemblies and mirror motors. Repair as necessary. If cause of fault is not evident, perform self-diagnostics. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM . If cause of fault is not evident after performing self-diagnostics or no DTCs related to symptom are retrieved, repair vehicle by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
