Removal and Installation

    WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, depower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM .
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  3. Remove and discard the oil filter.
    • To install, lubricate the new oil filter O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
  4. Remove the oil cooler hose bolt and remove the oil cooler hoses from the oil filter adapter.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  5. CAUTION: If metal or aluminum material is present in the oil cooler or oil cooler hoses, mechanical concerns exist. To diagnose mechanical concerns, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  6. Loosen the 2 coolant hose clamps and disconnect the 2 coolant hoses and remove the oil cooler and hoses as an assembly.
    • Inspect the oil cooler.
  7. WARNING: If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM .
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure. If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
