CAUTION:
Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.
CAUTION:
Brake fluid is harmful to painted or plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.
- Remove the brake caliper. For additional information, refer to BRAKE CALIPER .
- Remove the bleeder screw cap and bleeder screw.
- Secure the brake caliper in a vise.
- Place a piece of wood in the caliper. Remove the piston by applying moderate air pressure through the bleeder screw port.
- Remove and discard the piston seal and dust boot.
CAUTION:
Apply moderate air pressure in short bursts to prevent an uncontrolled release of the piston.
NOTE:
Do not hone the piston bores. If the bores are excessively scored or corroded, install a new brake caliper.
