Rear Window Defogger Does Not Turn Off Automatically

  1. Remove rear window defogger relay. Install a known-good relay and recheck system operation. If system now operates properly, install NEW relay. If system does not operate properly with test relay installed, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Central Junction Box (CJB) connector C368. Disconnect 1-pin connector C1891a from rear window defogger grid. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between rear window defogger connector C1891a (Green/Blue wire) and ground. If no voltage exists, go to next step. If any voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Green/Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  3. Disconnect rear window defogger relay and Central Timer Module (CTM) 20-pin connector C23 located on CJB. Measure resistance between CTM connector terminal No. 12 and ground. Measure resistance between CTM connector terminal No. 4 and ground. If both resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace CTM and retest. If either resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, replace CJB and retest.
