Test K: Liftgate Does Not Unlock
NOTE:
Normally, liftgate will unlock, but will not open. Hand latch release MUST be used to open liftgate.
- Press remote keyless entry transmitter TRUNK button. If liftgate lock releases, ensure hand latch operates properly. Lubricate latch as necessary. If liftgate lock does not release, go to next step.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Access RAP FUNCTION TESTS, TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA. Press remote keyless entry transmitter TRUNK button. If LAST DATA RECEIVED displays TRUNK, go to next step. If LAST DATA RECEIVED does not display TRUNK, perform TEST D: LOCKS INOPERATIVE FROM REMOTE TRANSMITTER .
- Disconnect Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module harness connector C254. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 7 (Brown/White wire) at RAP module connector C254. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 5) .
- Disconnect liftgate lock actuator harness connector. Install jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 7 (Brown/White wire) at RAP module connector C254. Measure voltage of Pink/Orange wire at liftgate lock actuator harness connector. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, replace RAP module.
- Remove liftgate release relay. Measure voltage in Black/White wire between terminal No. 86 and terminal No. 87 at liftgate release relay harness connector C257. See Figure . If battery voltage exists at both terminals, replace liftgate lock relay. If battery voltage does not exist at both connectors, repair open in Black/White wire from terminal 86 or terminal No. 87 at liftgate release relay harness connector C257 to splice S204 (located at right of steering column at instrument panel) and to fuse No. 4 at instrument panel fuse block.
