Window Motor: Removal
WARNING:
Window regulator electric drive has a counterbalance spring. Window MUST be in UP position to remove power motor or blocked to prevent window from suddenly raising, causing injury.
CAUTION:
Check inside door to ensure window regulator wiring is not in line with holes to be drilled in door inner panel.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door panel and inside panel sound insulator. Remove inside belt weatherstrip. Disconnect window regulator wiring connector.
- Using a 1/2-inch drill bit, drill 2 holes in door inner panel at drill dimples located opposite 2 unexposed window regulator electric-drive retaining screws.
- Remove 3 window regulator electric-drive retaining screws, using 2 drilled holes and one existing access hole. Push regulator electric-drive toward outside sheet metal to disengage from regulator gear.
- With regulator electric-drive and regulator gear disengaged, prop window glass in full up position. Remove regulator electric drive from door.
