Test F: Improper Up/Down Lifting Operation

  1. Operation Test  - Disconnect seat motor harness connector. Connect fused jumper wire to positive battery voltage. Connect a second jumper wire to ground. Connect jumper leads to appropriate wires at seat motor harness connector terminals. See MOTOR OPERATION table. Observe motor operation. If motors operates correctly, go to next step. If motor does not operate as specified, replace seat motor assembly.
    MOTOR OPERATION

Positive Voltage Negative Voltage Motor Response
Yellow/Light Blue Red/Light Blue Front Up
Red/Light Blue Yellow/Light Blue Front Down
Yellow/Light Green Red/Light Green Rear Up
Red/Light Green Yellow/Light Green Rear Down
  2. Test For Open  - Disconnect seat switch harness connector. Measure resistance in Yellow/Light Blue, Yellow/Light Green, Red/Light Blue and Red/Light Green wires between seat switch and seat motor harness connectors. If all resistance readings are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in appropriate wire.
  3. Test For Short  - Measure resistance between ground and Yellow/Light Blue, Yellow/Light Green, Red/Light Blue and Red/Light Green wires at seat switch harness connector. If all resistance readings are 10,000 ohms or greater, replace seat motor assembly. If any resistance reading is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire.
