Test K: Liftgate Does Not Unlock
NOTE:
Normally, liftgate will unlock, but will not open. Hand latch release MUST be used to open liftgate.
- Press remote keyless entry transmitter TRUNK button. If liftgate lock releases, ensure hand latch operates properly. Lubricate latch as necessary. If liftgate lock does not release, go to next step.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) to Data Link Connector (DLC). Access RAP FUNCTION TESTING, TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA. Press remote keyless entry transmitter TRUNK button. If LAST DATA RECEIVED displays TRUNK, go to next step. If LAST DATA RECEIVED does not display TRUNK, perform TEST D: LOCKS INOPERATIVE FROM REMOTE TRANSMITTER .
- Disconnect Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module harness connector C254. Measure voltage at terminal No. 7 (Brown/White wire) at RAP module connector C254. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 5).
- Disconnect liftgate lock actuator harness connector. Install jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 7 (Brown/White wire) at RAP module connector C254. Measure voltage of Pink/Orange wire at liftgate lock actuator harness connector. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, replace RAP module.
- Remove liftgate release relay. Measure voltage between at terminals No. 86 and 87 (Black/White wire at both terminals) at liftgate release relay harness connector. See Figure . If battery voltage exists at both terminals, replace liftgate lock relay. If battery voltage does not exist at both connectors, repair open in Black/White wire.
