Test E: Intermittent Speed Does Not Operate Properly
- Check Wiper Switch Signal - Turn ignition off. Disconnect Wiper Control Module (WCM) connector. Turn wiper switch to any interval setting. Measure resistance between WCM connector terminals No. 1 (Orange wire) and No. 7 (Brown/White wire). See Figure . Resistance should be 10.5-12.0 k/ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, go to step 4).
- Check Wiper Switch Delay Signal - While rotating interval portion of wiper switch, measure resistance between WCM connector terminals No. 7 (Brown/White wire) and No. 9 Dark Blue/White wire). See Figure . Resistance should smoothly change from 3.3-103 k/ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, replace WCM and retest system.
- Check Wires Between WCM & Wiper Switch For Short To Ground - Measure resistance between ground and WCM harness connector terminals No. 1 and 9. If measured resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms for each measurement, go to next step. If resistance of any measurement is less than 10 k/ohms, repair suspect wire for short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Restore electrical connections and check system operation.
- Check Orange Wire For Open - Disconnect multifunction switch 7-pin connector. Measure resistance of Orange wire between WCM connector and multifunction switch 7-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair Orange wire as necessary. After repair, retest system.
