Visual Inspection

  1. Ensure master cylinder reservoir is full and parking brake is fully released. Inspect wheel sensors and brakelines for damage. Inspect wheel bearings for looseness or damage. Repair as necessary.
  2. On 1998 models, ensure 40-amp ABS 1 fuse and 20-amp ABS 2 fuse located in engine compartment fuse box are okay. Ensure 10-amp fuse No. 7, 15-amp fuse No. 9 and 10-amp fuse No. 15 located in instrument panel fuse block are okay. Check ABS warning light bulb.
  3. On 1999 models, ensure 50-amp ABS 1 fuse and 20-amp ABS 2 fuse located in engine compartment fuse box are okay. Ensure 10-amp fuse No.5, 15-amp fuse No. 29, 15-amp fuse No. 33 and 15-amp fuse No. 35 located in instrument panel fuse block are okay. Check ABS warning light bulb.
  4. On all models, check for damage to wiring harnesses. Check for loose or corroded connectors. Repair as necessary. If problem persists after visual inspection, proceed with self-diagnostics. See RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES .
