Test H: DECKLID Will Not Unlock

  1. Check Decklid Release Switch  - Press decklid release switch located in glove box. If trunk does not open, go to next step. If trunk opens, go to step 7).
  2. Check Decklid Release Output  - Using NGS tester, command DECKLID RELEASE. If decklid does not open, go to next step. If decklid opens, go to step 7).
  3. Check Mechanical Release  - Using NGS tester, command DECKLID RELEASE. Listen for sound from decklid area. If no sound occurs, go to next step. If sound occurs, check for sticking decklid release mechanism or other mechanical problem. Repair as necessary.
  4. Check Decklid Release Output From driver Door Module  - Backprobe DDM 18-pin connector C519 (located inside driver's door) terminal No. 7 (Purple/Yellow wire) with voltmeter while commanding DECKLID RELEASE using NGS tester. See Figure . If battery voltage is momentarily present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not momentarily present, replace driver door module and retest system operation.
  5. Check For Voltage Decklid Release Solenoid  - Using a voltmeter, check for voltage between ground and decklid release solenoid connector Purple/Yellow wire terminal while commanding DECKLID RELEASE using NGS tester. If battery voltage is momentarily present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not momentarily present, repair Purple/Yellow wire and retest system operation.
  6. Check decklid Release Solenoid Ground Circuit  - Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and decklid release solenoid connector Black wire terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace decklid release solenoid and retest system operation. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire and retest system operation.
  7. Check Decklid Release Switch Circuit  - Using NGS tester, monitor PID DLIDREL while pressing decklid switch. If PID DLIDREL does not change from OFF to ON when switch is pressed, go to next step. If PID DLIDREL changes from OFF to ON when switch is pressed, replace driver door module and retest system operation.
  8. Check To See If Decklid Release Switch Is Stuck  - With decklid switch released, monitor PID DLIDREL. If NGS tester does not indicate switch is ON, go to next step. If NGS tester indicates switch is ON, inspect White/Purple wire for short to ground. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace decklid switch and retest system operation.
  9. Check White/Purple Wire For Open  - Using an ohmmeter, check resistance in White/Purple wire between DDM 18-pin connector C519 terminal No. 13 and decklid switch. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in White/Purple wire and retest system operation.
  10. Check Black Wire For Open  - Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and decklid switch connector Black wire terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace decklid switch and retest system operation. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire and retest system operation.
