Automatic Transmission: 4R70W: Installation

  1. To install transmission, reverse removal procedure. Ensure torque converter is fully seated in pump. Lubricate torque converter pilot with chassis grease.
  2. Align orange balancing marks (if present) on torque converter and flexplate. Align torque converter drive studs and drain plug with holes in flexplate.
  3. Fill transmission to proper level with Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). See appropriate SERVICING article. If gear selector has been disassembled, install NEW plastic grommets.
