Final Drive Assembly: Disassembly

  1. Remove No. 16 thrust bearing and race. Remove park gear from differential output shaft. Remove final drive sun gear and deflector assembly. See Figure . Remove speedometer drive gear, if equipped.
  2. Drive out pinion shaft roll pin. Tap out pinion shaft. Remove pinion gears and thrust washers by rotating output shaft. Remove right side gear and thrust washer.
  3. Push output shaft toward center of housing. Slide left side gear back and remove snap ring. Slide shaft out of housing and remove side gear and thrust washer.
