Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving steering column components. Refer to the AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM

apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
The electronic instrument cluster consists of a display panel and a microcomputer. It is operational only when ignition is on. Major components are a speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, coolant temperature gauge, message center, and warning indicators.
