Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Mercury Sable and 1997 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
A New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) is required for testing the wiper/washer system.
NOTE:
If any other DTCs, with exception of DTC B1441, are retrieved along with DTC B1446, service other DTCs first. If DTC B1441 is retrieved with DTC B1446, proceed with test for DTC B1446 - WIPER FRONT PARK SENSE CIRCUIT FAILURE.
Retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) before beginning any testing. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located at instrument panel below steering column. Following manufacturer's instructions, retrieve any existing code(s) from Generic Electronic Module (GEM). Perform appropriate DTC test. If symptoms remain or if no DTCs exist, go to PINPOINT TEST "A" under PINPOINT TESTS.
NGS tester must be used to clear DTC(s). Follow manufacturer's instructions to clear individual DTC or all DTCs stored in GEM.
