Test Q: Memory Mirror Inoperative
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition on. Perform DSM Self Test. If DTC U1180, U1181 or U1194 exist, see the SEATS - POWER article. If DTC U1180, U1181 or U1194 do not exist, go to next step.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Set NGS tester to DDM PID MEM2_SW. Press memory/recall position 2 button. If PID MEM2_SW reads ON, go to step 8). If PID MEM2_SW does not read ON, go to next step.
- Set tester to DDM PID MEM1_SW.If PID MEM1_SW reads ON, go to step 5). If PID MEM1_SW does not read ON, go to next step.
- Disconnect Memory Off/Recall Switch connector C515. Check voltage at connector C515 terminal 5 (Dark Green/Purple wire). If battery voltage exists, replace switch and retest. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open Dark Green/Purple wire and retest.
- Disconnect DDM connector C456. Check voltage at connector C456 terminal No. 7 (Black/Orange wire) while pushing memory off/recall switch position 2 button. If battery voltage exists, replace DDM and retest. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Check continuity between connector C456 terminal No. 7 (Black/Orange wire) and ground. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more go to next step. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, repair Black/Orange wire and retest.
- Disconnect Memory Off/Recall Switch connector C515. Check continuity between connector C456 terminal No. 7 (Black/Orange wire) and connector C515 terminal No. 1 (Black/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Orange wire and retest. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace Memory Off/Recall Switch and retest.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Set NGS tester to DDM PID MEM1_SW. Press memory/recall position 1 button. If PID MEM1_SW reads ON, replace DSM and retest. If PID MEM1_SW does not read ON, go to next step.
- Disconnect DDM connector C456. Check voltage at connector C456 terminal No. 19 (Brown/Light Green wire) while pushing memory off/recall switch position 1 button. If battery voltage exists, replace DDM and retest. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Check continuity between connector C456 terminal No. 19 (Brown/Light Green wire) and ground. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more go to next step. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, repair Brown/Light Green wire and retest.
- Disconnect Memory Off/Recall Switch connector C515. Check continuity between connector C456 terminal No. 19 (Brown/Light Green wire) and connector C515 terminal No. 3 (Brown/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Brown/Light Green wire and retest. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace Memory Off/Recall Switch and retest.
