Test E: Motor & Motor Relay
- Check System Integrity
Visually check wiring, connectors, brakelines and components for damage, looseness and short circuits. If faults are found, repair as necessary. If no faults are found, go to next step
- Check Motor Relay Operation
While performing this step, DO NOT allow motor to operate more than 2 seconds. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module. ABS control module is located behind left cowl side trim panel. Turn ignition on. Connect a jumper wire between ground and Black/Blue wire at ABS control module connector. Connect a jumper wire between ground and Blue/Orange wire at ABS control module connector for no longer than 2 seconds. If motor relay clicks and motor operates when Blue/Orange wire is momentarily connected to ground, go to step 7). If motor relay clicks, but motor does not operate, go to step 4). If motor relay does not click and motor does not operate, go to next step.
- Check ABS Relay
Verify operation of ABS relay. See TEST D
. Replace ABS relay as necessary. If relay operates properly, go to next step.
- Motor Resistance Check
Turn ignition off. Disconnect hydraulic actuator assembly 2-pin connector from motor. Set DVOM on 200-ohm scale. Measure resistance between hydraulic actuator connector terminals. If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is one ohm or more, replace hydraulic actuator assembly.
- Check Motor Operation
Apply 12 volts to Red/Yellow terminal on hydraulic actuator assembly 2-pin connector. Using jumper wire, momentarily ground remaining connector terminal (Black wire). DO NOT allow motor to operate more than 2 seconds. If motor operates, go to next step. If motor does not operate, replace hydraulic actuator assembly.
- Check Motor Ground
Measure resistance between ground and Black wire of hydraulic actuator 2-pin wiring harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Red/Yellow wire between ABS relay and hydraulic actuator assembly. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Black wire to ground.
- Resistance Check
Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module. ABS control module is located behind left cowl side trim panel. On all models, ensure hydraulic actuator assembly is connected. Set DVOM on 200-ohm scale. Measure resistance between ground and Red/Yellow wire at ABS control module connector. If resistance is less than one ohm, go to TEST H
. If resistance is more than one ohm, repair Red/Yellow wire between ABS control module and hydraulic actuator assembly.
