Driver-Side Air Bag Module: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable SRS. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
  2. Remove access plugs from back of steering wheel. See Fig 1 . Remove bolts and washers retaining air bag module to steering wheel. Disconnect air bag module wiring connector from clockspring connector. Disconnect horn and speed control wiring harness connector (if equipped) from steering wheel. Remove air bag module.
