DTC B1345 - Defogger Switch Signal Short To Ground
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Mercury Sable and 1997 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Check PID
Disconnect Black 16-pin harness connector from integrated control panel. Using New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester, access GEM. Select RDEF_SW Parameter Identification (PID) data. If PID indicates ACTIVE, go to next step. If PID does not indicate ACTIVE, replace integrated control panel. - Check For Shorted Dark Blue/Orange Wire
Disconnect 16-pin harness connector from GEM, located behind interior fuse panel. Using ohmmeter connected to ground, measure resistance at pin No. 8 (Dark Blue/Orange wire) at 16-pin GEM connector. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/Orange wire. - Perform Wiggle Test
Using NGS tester, access GEM. Select WIGGLE TEST from NGS tester menu. Wiggle and tap on associated connectors while performing test. If DTC B1345 is retrieved, repair suspect wire that was wiggled when DTC B1345 set. If DTC B1345 does not appear, replace GEM and repeat self-diagnostics.
