Test A: Power Seat Completely Inoperative
- Check Power Supply & Ground - Remove and disconnect seat control switch. Using voltmeter, check voltage between Black/White wire and Black wire of seat switch harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to step 6). If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Check Ground Resistance - Using ohmmeter, check resistance between Black wire of seat switch harness connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black wire. Repeat step 1).
- Test Power Supply To Switch - Check voltage at Black/White wire of seat switch harness connector. If less than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or more exists, go to step 6).
- Test For Short To Ground - Remove power seat fuse (25-amp) located in engine compartment fuse box. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between Black/White wire of seat switch harness connector and ground. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short in Black/White wire.
- Test Power Supply Circuit Continuity - Check resistance between Black/White wire at seat control switch harness connector and output side of power seat fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black/White wire.
- Test Switch Operation
- Using jumper wires, connect Black/White and Black wires to other wires at seat control switch harness connector. See MUSTANG SEAT MOTOR OPERATION table. Observe seat operation. If seat does not operate correctly, go to next step. If seat operates correctly, replace seat control switch.MUSTANG SEAT MOTOR OPERATION

Using ohmmeter, check resistance in Yellow/White, Red/White, Red/Light Blue and Yellow/Light Blue wires between seat control switch harness connector and ground. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short in appropriate wire(s).
- Test Wires For Open - Using ohmmeter, check resistance in Yellow/White, Red/White, Red/Light Blue and Yellow/Light Blue wires between seat control switch harness connector and driver seat motor harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire(s).
- Test Motor Operation - Connect driver seat motor connector. Repeat step 6). If motor does not operate as specified, replace motor assembly. If motor operates correctly, system operating properly at this time.
